How to configure & optimize Dynmap for MySQL

This is a guide on how you can configure the plugin "Dynmap" to use MySQL to save on some storage for your server. To prevent the database from growing extremely large, we highly encourage you to optimize some settings which we will be going over as well. However, before we begin - I will firstly list a few important aspects worth mentioning.

Things worth mentioning:
- This article was written based on the 1.10.2 version of Spigot. You may have different outcomes on other versions.
- We're going to assume that the plugin Dynmap is already installed on your server. We won't be going over instructions on how to install it.
- If your server is hosted with us, the database port is the default MySQL port - 3306.

Anyways, without further ado, let's get started.
1) To start off, you are going to need to open the "configuration.txt" file.
2) Next, navigate down to line 29 - or simply search for "type: mysql". Uncomment(or remove the #) from lines 29 to 35.
3) Enter the MySQL hostname, database, username(userid in the configuration), and password. Be sure to change the port as well if it is not the default port. The "type" and "prefix" options remain the same.
4) Save the configuration file, and restart your server. If it was configured correctly, it should say "Opening MySQL database" in the console.

Now, we will be going over how you can optimize the plugin to save on some usage with MySQL as well.
1) You will need to navigate your way back to and open the "configuration.txt" file.
2) We will be focusing on line 3 to 16 now. Please read all of the resolution options stated within these lines.
3) Once you have chosen which resolution you would like to use, it tells you what you need to set the value to. For this example, we will be using "lowres" which we suggest you also use. Set the option "deftemplatesuffix" to corresponding value for the resolution you would like.
4) Again, save the configuration file and restart your server.
